AC / Heat Pump Dynamics Simulator

User Guide

  • Refrigerant: Select type of refrigerant in system.
  • Target SC: Target subcooling indicated on condensing unit data plate or chart.
  • Mode: Cooling or Heat Pump (heating) mode.
  • Target CFM: Tonnage of unit x cfm/ton being used. Example:  3-ton system , 400 cfm/ton, 1200  CFM total. After target is set, move the airflow slider higher or lower than targeted airflow to see the effects of blower speed changes on other readings.
  • ECM Var/ECM Torque/PSC: Type of blower motor the indoor unit is using.
  • Dehum: Moisture removal based on blower speeds.
  • Est. ΔT: Estimated "Delta T", or, the temperature difference between the return and supply air. Ideal range between 18-22 Degrees F.
  • Indoor/Outdoor (Deg F): Indoor & outdoor ambient temperatures.

  • RH: Relative humidity of indoor air.
  • Charge (%): This slider allows you to adjust system refrigerant charge.  0% = proper amount of refrigerant in system based on subcooling method (TXV/EXV). Use the slider to replicate too much or too little refrigerant in the system.

Use the sliders below to change Indoor & outdoor temperatures, refrigerant charge and airflow to see how each dynamic affects the others.
